NOTE: This route passes the entrance to the Severn River/Trent Severn Waterway so beware of heavy boat traffic during July and August as well as weekends. This shallow lake can also become very wavy. Please check the forecast and paddle within your ability. Please respect and obey the rules of the waterway.

The North Lake Couchiching route is perfect for a shorter family outing and a great opportunity to tie in the use of Washago Centennial Park’s facilities including a picnic area, playground and beach. On your paddle enjoy the crystal clear waters of Lake Couchiching amongst the small rock outcroppings and islands. You will leave from and return to the park, where you will pass by the Washago water tower in the distance, possibly see beautiful swans and ducks and enjoy a paddle that can connect to small inlets into other rivers. This route can be expanded by paddling further into Lake Couchiching or enjoy the peacefulness of connecting to the Severn River. The village of Washago is just a short distance away from this park and a perfect stop for refreshments.
