It’s that sweet time of year again, as the days and nights get warmer, and sap starts flowing through maple trees, the sweetest trail you will find in Central Ontario is the one that will lead you to all things maple in Orillia & Lake Country. Running March 6 to April 5 (just in time for Maple Weekend), Tap into Maple is an opportunity to visit the region’s maple syrup producers, enjoy special maple-themed experiences, shopping art and all things maple and indulge in local maple-inspired cuisine.
This year’s program truly showcases the deep roots of maple in our region through Experiences, Taste and Shop options. Follow a self-guided journey along lesser-traveled routes to working sugar shacks, where maple producers invite you to Experience first hand – from harvesting sap to boiling and tasting fresh syrup.Taste maple in all its forms at local restaurants, breweries and cafes featuring maple-inspired menus and craft brews. Complete your maple adventure by shopping maple-infused treats, spa expeiences, artisanal goods and maple-inspired art at everything from roadside farm stands, markets, local retailers and art shops, each offering a unique experession of this iconic harvest.

Experience Maple
Hewitt’s Farm Market & Bakery has maple goodies for visitors to their store in Warminster. Enjoy Hewitt’s Pure Maple Syrup, maple pecan muffins, lollipops, suckers, toffee and maple sugar, as well as maple barbecue sauces, bacon, sausages, butter, fudge and loaves.

During Tap into Maple: At Elsie’s Creek Farm, Quality and Flavor are the number one concerns. Carl and his wife Rebecca started producing maple syrup in 1999 and have since expanded their operation to over 1200 taps on their farm. Enjoy self-guided tours of the sugar bush, watch the evaporator in action (weather permitting) and take home delicious maple products.

A short drive from Orillia, you can find exquisite maple syrup at The FarmGate, just outside of Brechin. At The FarmGate you can see the steam rise as Bert boils the sap for all to see. Check out their maple products!

Kiki LaRuse is celebrating Tap Into Maple with paintings of maple trees and hand-painted maple-themed glassware, all available to view and purchase. It’s a beautiful way to experience maple through local art and craftsmanship.

The Makers Circle is celebrating Tap Into Maple as a collaborative gallery experience featuring wooden maple leaf decorating, maple leaf painting workshops, and a collection of maple- and spring-inspired artwork from local makers. Peter Street Gallery is celebrating Tap Into Maple by showcasing the work of two featured artists. Xavier Fernandes creates handcrafted bowls, platters, boxes, rings, and other pieces from found wood, giving old trees a meaningful second life through functional art. Alongside his work, Brian Tosh, a realist oil painter known for his Washago and Orillia streetscapes, will be presenting maple-inspired sugar shack paintings that capture the beauty of the backwoods landscapes that define the region.
