The midway lights, local food, agricultural exhibits, animals, tractor pulls, demolition derby’s and the unmistakable smell of fairground treats are all part of the experience. If you are looking for a fun fall day trip around Orillia and Lake Country, here are three local fairs worth putting on your calendar in 2026.

Oro World’s Fair September 18-19 

The Oro World’s Fair returns to the Oro-Medonte Fairgrounds on September 18 and 19, 2026, continuing a tradition that has been part of the community for generations. 

Your itinerary: Friday is the perfect day to go if you are looking for some motorsport action. There is a local vintage tractor pull followed by the sanctioned tractor and truck pull. There are also many animal events to take in like the livestock judging and dog agility show, plus so much more happening on the grounds that you will not want to miss! On Saturday, explore the fair exhibits, enjoy the entertainment, catch the horseshoe tournament, hunter jumper horse show, baby show, and musical performances Pat & Russ as well as by Amanda Keeles. The day wraps up with the Demolition Derby and Silent Auction.

Coldwater Fall Fair September 25-27 

A week later, head to Coldwater for three days of “Country Life” at the Coldwater Fall Fair, running September 25-27, 2026. The fair celebrates agriculture, community and rural traditions with livestock shows, homecraft competitions, entertainment and a large midway. 

Your itinerary: Friday evening is a great choice if you want the action including a parade, sheep shows, vendors and exhibits as well as the demolition derby. Saturday gives you a full day to explore the exhibits, animals and midway before checking out the tractor-pull action. Sunday is another day filled with animal shows, races, and games including a nail driving and log sawing competition.  

Why go: Coldwater is the fair to choose when you want a little bit of everything. It is especially appealing for families, with rides, animals, agricultural competitions, live entertainment, and plenty of classic fair traditions in the quaint village of Coldwater.

Orillia Fall Fair October 2-4 

Finish your fall-fair tour with the Orillia Fall Fair, taking place October 2-4, 2026 at ODAS Park. Although it is called the Orillia Fall Fair, the fairgrounds are actually located just outside the city in Severn. 

Your itinerary: If you have the whole weekend, each day offers something a little different. Friday, October 2 is a good time to ease into the fair with the midway, agricultural exhibits, livestock, food vendors and family-friendly attractions. Saturday, October 3 is the big day for families and motorsport fans, with the Children’s Farm Olympics, Mini Pedal Tractor Pulls, the Central Canadian Horse Pulling Association and North River Riders Horse Show, followed by the evening truck and tractor pulls. Sunday, October 4 wraps things up with more fairground activities and the afternoon Demolition Derby, featuring several classes including compact cars, stock trucks, Junk Run, Youth Junk Run and Powerwheels. 

Why go: This is a great way to finish the season because October brings cooler temperatures and the beginning of fall colour. Whether you are bringing the kids for the midway, checking out the exhibits or staying for the demolition derby, it is an easy and fun autumn activity.
