Black River Wilderness Park

Black River Wilderness Park

Open May to Thanksgiving. Reservations open March 19th.

Black River Wilderness Park is a 180 acre wilderness retreat. This park offers a variety of accommodations, including tent sites, tipis, yurts, cabins and RV sites. Canoe, kayak or float down the Black River and take a dip in one of the swimming holes. If fishing is your thing, the river is home to a number of species, including small-mouth bass. Hikers are invited to explore the 4km wooded trail systems throughout the park. There is a cafe on site to treat yourself after a fun day of exploring. An onsite children’s playground and sandbox is also available. Owned by the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, a variety of cultural experiences can be found within the park, including an Indigenous focused artisan market, Saturdays from 9am-1pm, May to October. Bass Lake

Bass Lake Provincial Park

Open mid May to Late October. Reservations can be made upto 5 months in advance.

Located just minutes from Orillia, Bass Lake Provincial Park is a hidden gem. Find 268 campsites tucked under lush forested canopy or in soft grassy areas. The small, warm lake boasts a sandy bottom and fantastic beach with a playground for the kids. Kayaks and canoes are available for rent and there is a park store that sells ice cream, coffee, and other basic needs. There is a 2.8km trail to enjoy, that will take you along the waterfront and past remnants of the Rowe Homestead, a working farm for more than 100 years. And if glamping is more your style, reserve one of the 5 new prospector style tents. These timber framed canvas tents are complete with bunkbeds, a dining table, storage shelves and a bbq. Heidi’s Campground

Heidi’s Campground is a family owned RV park that has been in operation for over 20 years. Conveniently located off highway 11 between Barrie and Orillia, Heidi’s offers 242 full service sites available nightly or seasonally, from May 1st to October 15th. The park features fun amenities for the whole family, including and indoor heated pool and hot tub, sports courts, a playground and weekend social events. With easy access to many of the area’s attractions including Burl’s Creek, the Sunset Barrie Drive In, Treetop Trekking and more, Heidi’s is a great home base, while exploring all that the region has to offer. Point of Mara is seasonal RV park located in Brechin, on the shores of Lake Simcoe. This family friendly park is open May 1st to October 13th and features 72 full service sites, including lakefront and lakeview sites. There is a beach with cedar dock and large swimming raft.
