Experience the Great Outdoors at Black River Wilderness Park

Get ready to reignite your adventurous side, Black River Wilderness Park is back open for the spring and summer camping season. Find out what the beauty of cottage country is all about in this all-encompassing wildlife experience!

Black River Wilderness Park, located on Rama First Nation near Washago, offers 180 acres of camping experiences along the serene waters of the Black River. Set against a breathtaking backdrop of Canadian Shield granite, towering pines and the flowing Black River, this location is one that can’t be beat.

Outdoor Fun

With its wilderness setting, the park offers ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Hikers are invited to explore over 4km of green space and wooded trail systems throughout the park, while those who love to get out on the water can try paddling or tubing the river. If fishing is your thing, the river is home to a number of species, including small-mouth bass.

An onsite children’s playground and sandbox is also available to keep the little ones entertained in the great outdoors.

Tipis, Glamping & More

Serene and immersive, campsites are spaciously distributed through four unique islands, some of which are connected to the mainland by bridge. The campground offers first-rate tenting sites and tipis for rent throughout the season.  For those seeking the glamping experience, Black River Wilderness Park offers four yurts and six rustic cabins that come with cozy beds and private outdoor barbecues.

There are also many sites with hookups for RV camping, which are perfect for those traveling in large or small RVs.

For a sweet treat or special gift to take home, visit the Trading Post and Cafe onsite, where you’ll find freshly-brewed coffee, ice cream, snacks, gear, local art, and handmade goods.
