Where to go and what to do this March Break!

It’s time for a well-earned break for the whole family to get outside and enjoy the sunshine, warmer temperatures and sweet treats around Orillia & Lake Country.

Tap Into Maple

March Break just got sweeter! Indulge your sweet tooth visiting locations that are part of this year’s Tap Into Maple! Find the route that suits your family on this self-guided tour visiting maple producers and businesses through our region.

Enjoy a pancake meal, go on a self-guided walk and pick up some treats at Shaw’s Maple Syrup, open daily.

See the full production process from tapping to boiling to serving at various maple producers including Backwoods Maple Syrup, Elsie’s Creek Farm, The Farm Gate, Hutchinson’s Maple Syrup, Maple Grove Syrup, and Sugar Sweet Farms. Check with producers ahead of visiting for hours of operation and if pre-booking is required.

Pick up some maple treats to-go at Chelsea Chocolates in Craighurst or stop in to Apple Annie’s Shop & Cafe in Orillia for maple fudge and special Maple Syrup Latte.

Pick up maple products while you shop local at Hewitt’s Farm Market, open daily. On Saturdays, visit the Orillia Fairgrounds Farmers Market where maple vendors will be on hand.

March Break specials!

Scales Nature Park reopens its doors for a limited time to welcome back visitors for special March Break guided tours! Meet Canadian reptiles and amphibians through a personalized and private tour. By appointment only so don’t miss out! Book your tour before it’s too late

Orillia Museum of Art & History is open Tuesday to Saturday with the new exhibition From Marbles to Minecraft: A Century of Childhood, comparing how children play from the 1920s versus the 2020s. This is a fun and interactive exhibit that encourages visitors to learn through hands-on play and vibrant installations. Bring along your kids and kids-at-heart to discover how the experience of childhood has changed, and yet how it remains the same.

Roller Skating Place at ODAS Park has special March Break rollerskating days on Monday, March 14 and Wednesday, March 16 from 1-4pm. Get groovy and strap on some skates for the day!

Cirque du Soleil’s Street Team will be on site at Horseshoe Resort from March 16 – 19 with hot chocolate and a scavenger hunt for a chance to win tickets to KURIOS: Cabinet of Curiosities at Ontario Place. Check out Horseshoe’s weeklong slope-side entertainment.

Serenity Rising March Break Adventures invites visitors to come and visit the farm all week long! Fire will be going and animals will be waiting to say hello! From March 14 – 20, join in on a scavenger hunt around the farm, bring your skis and snowshoes, enjoy some s’mores, and take part in a colouring contest. Entry fee is $10 per person, check out all the details for the event!
