There’s nothing quite like summer theatre at the Orillia Opera House—and this year’s production of Hurry Hard by Kristen Da Silva is set to bring a warm, laughter-filled night to the heart of downtown Orillia. Running from July 23 to August 8, 2025, this witty, fast-paced comedy directed by the accomplished Jesse Collins invites audiences to embrace the quirks, camaraderie, and comedic chaos of small-town curling—and the sometimes equally unpredictable world of relationships.
Hurry Hard follows Bill and Sandy, whose marriage (and curling team) have both gone their separate ways. But when the men’s team is a player short for the big Bonspiel, personal differences are put aside in the name of victory, friendship, and, of course, laughter. No need to be a curling expert—just bring your sense of humour and let this talented cast guide you through a riotous journey on and off the ice.
Speaking of talent, this production boasts an outstanding lineup of performers: Opera House favourite Caitlin Driscoll returns for her third show at The OOH, joined by Darren Keay (known for Outlaw and A Christmas Carol), Erin MacKinnon (fresh from Theatre Orangeville), Tim Walker (recently at Factory Theatre in Toronto), and newcomer Jack Ettlinger. Under Jesse Collins’ direction, this crew promises to deliver a night to remember.
Though the play doesn’t take place specifically in Orillia, a comedy set in a curling rink still rings true. Curling is wound into Orillia’s cultural fabric with our long history of local clubs and rinks fostering generations of champions and community spirit.
