What happens when some of the biggest music ever written for the silver screen is unleashed on a
great pipe organ?
CINEMATIC PIPES brings the excitement, drama and sheer spectacle of the movies to St. Paul’s Centre in Orillia for a one-night concert featuring organist Stephen Boda, Principal Organist at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church in Toronto.
Forget everything you think you know about an organ recital.
Boda will take command of St. Paul’s three-manual Casavant pipe organ, transforming the instrument into an orchestra of sound for an evening filled with music from some of cinema’s most unforgettable worlds.
Throughout the concert, St. Paul’s two large screens and tech team will bring audiences closer to the action, offering an enhanced view of Boda at the console as he puts the three-manual Casavant through its paces.
Audiences will hear music associated with Star Wars, The Phantom of the Opera, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings and much more – music filled with heroes and villains, adventure, mystery, fantasy and larger-than-life cinematic excitement.
For anyone who loves epic fantasy, blockbuster movies or great film scores, Cinematic Pipes offers the chance to experience that same kind of musical spectacle in an entirely different way. With thousands of pipes, an enormous range of colours and sounds, and the ability to move from a whisper to a room-shaking roar, the pipe organ may be the ultimate instrument for movie music.
And you don’t have to know anything about classical music – or pipe organs – to enjoy it.
