Pride in Nature
Grant’s Woods Nature Reserve, Severn | Saturday, June 15, 1pm
Join Lake Country Pride and the Couchiching Conservancy in celebrating Pride Month with a nature walk for members of the queer community & allies. This walk will be an opportunity to explore Grant’s Woods, and learn about ecology as it relates to Queer Theory on the way! Sheena Tolland (HBASc) and Max McKenzie (BSc, MA) will serve as your guides. We’ll be identifying plant and animal species, learning about the ecosystem, and discussing the diversity of identities and expression found in nature. Grab your rainbow gear and come enjoy Pride in Nature with us! Limited spots available!

Family Art with Pride & Adult Art Hive
Heartworks Children’s Studio, Orillia | Tuesday, June 18, 4:30pm-6:30pm for families, 7-9pm for 18+
Family Event: Join us for Pride Family Art Night on June 18th from 4:30-6:30 pm! Enjoy rainbow-themed crafts and sensory play in a fun, inclusive environment. Celebrate love and creativity with the whole family!
Each adult and child attending requires a ticket. Babes in arms and children under 18 months with a paying sibling are free.

Adult Event: Celebrate Pride Month with us! Join our LGBTQIA+ Art Hive on June 18th from 7-9 pm for an evening of creativity and community. This free event, open to those 18 and older, features activities like affirmation card making and bracelet crafting. While the event is free, donations are welcome and will support Lake Country Pride. Come express yourself and connect with others in a vibrant, supportive space.

Begin gathering at the Orillia Public Library courtyard at 12pm. Three speakers begin at 1pm followed by the march. The route will run down Mississaga St, to Front St, along Centennial Drive and finishing at the large pavilion at Couchiching Beach Park.

Decoding Anne Lister: History’s First Modern Lesbian

Reviled and hidden away for decades because of the stories they contained, Anne Lister’s diaries and her life are the focus of a fascinating exhibit at the Leacock Museum. Now famously known as “history’s first modern lesbian” and the focus of a popular TV show, Anne Lister meticulously captured the details of her life including love affairs, business deals, and politics in a partially encoded diary that scholars have worked for decades to transcribe. The exhibit will focus on the life of this revolutionary British lesbian while exploring themes of Canadian Queer history, the art of code breaking, and the world in which Anne Lister existed.
