For many, the summer of 2020 will be remembered for two things: incredibly hot weather and restrictions caused by the world-wide pandemic. But for those who returned to Bayview Wildwood Resort in Severn Bridge, it will be remembered as it always has been – another summer holiday making memories on the south shore of Sparrow Lake in Muskoka.
After all, family fun is what Bayview Wildwood does best. Six generations of the same family have been offering this experience for more than 120 years. General manager, Jason Stanton, has spent his entire life at the resort – either living there or cottaging – and he grew up getting to know the same guests he still sees returning each year.
“They look for you. They want to see you. They want to hear how you’re doing, how your family’s doing,” he says. “That type of interaction, it takes it to the next level. It really allows people to connect with our family and our history and the heritage that we have here. It allows people to feel that sense of ‘home’.”
And, they make sure that new families to the resort get that same sense of family and familiarity.
Now that summer is almost behind us, the iconic resort is focused on some pretty good fall deals at a time when it’s often still warm enough to swim in the lake, and yet the warmth of a fire is appreciated on cool nights.
‘Tuesdays are Free’ packages allow you to stay any three nights, mid-week, and always get the Tuesday night free. That’s lakeside accommodation with breakfast and dinner each day, as well as complete use of resort amenities, including 15 – 20 km of hiking trails.
‘Escape to the Lake’ all-inclusive weekend getaways include breakfast and dinner, entertainment, scheduled wellness activities and use of all amenities, as well as boat cruises on Sparrow Lake.
Thanksgiving Weekend is always a special family time at Bayview Wildwood, with a three-night package that includes lots of activities, entertainment and meals, including Thanksgiving dinner and Monday brunch.
During this time of uncertainty when travelling, guests of the resort can be assured that they are taking all precautions related to COVID-19, including sanitizing all spaces and recreational equipment, providing separate entrances and exits to all main rooms and buildings, staggered meals, and sanitizing stations throughout the resort.
“The biggest thing we want to push at this time is respect,” says Jason. “Respecting each other; respecting each other’s space. It all comes down to making sure that everyone gets to use the facilities safely and responsibly.”
