Fall Adventures in Ontario’s Lake Country, another reason to visit Simcoe County
What is your favourite time of year? For me it is early Fall. I know, Summer is amazing and nothing beats jumping into the lake on a hot day but there is a magic to Autumn that the other seasons just can’t touch. For as far as the eye can see leaves on the trees change colours and there is a crispness in the air that invites the wearing of sweaters and drinking hot cocoa. Pack a bag, escape city life and experience the magic of Ontario’s Lake Country this Fall. There is plenty here for you to do.
You’ve picked a great time to be in Orillia and area. Lots is happening here including the the Fall Flavours culinary event at twelve area restaurants from October 20th to November 5th. There also happens to be a wealth of outdoor activities for you to choose from and they are all great ways for you to experience the Fall colours.

Be prepared to stop often as Instagram worthy moments are around every corner.
Kayaking – A Breath of Fresh Air offers paddle enthusiasts the chance to get onto Lake Couchiching and see the Fall colours from the water. Choose from a kayak or canoe the choice is yours. I loved heading out in a two person kayak from Couchiching Beach Park and making my way into the open water. There are currently twelve paddle routes throughout Lake Country that will help you make the most of your Fall colour sightseeing. Bring your camera the views are amazing.
Segway Touring – Go Tours offers a unique way to experience the wonder of Fall out of their Hardwood Ski & Bike park location, off-road Segway tours. Treetop Trekking & Zipline – If maximum adventure is what you are looking for then head to Horseshoe Valley and experience the challenge offered at Treetop Trekking. Summon your inner Spider Man or Tarzan and make your way through the three hour obstacle course high in the trees. If you do the n’t have three hours how about trying the Big Zip? A thousand foot zip line that will have you careening through the Fall colours for as long as leaves are on the trees. There are adventures here for kids from 5 years and up. Who will be the fastest on Big Zip?
Flight-Seeing – Lake Country Airways offers the best view of Ontario’s Lake Country that you will ever see. A birds eye view of the Fall colours from a few thousand feet. The 20 minute scenic flight is the shortest option available and takes you over the lakes, downtown Orillia and miles and miles of colour changing forests.
