The Man Who Could Fly; The Girl Who Flies in Her Dreams
Sometimes I move with wings through the air. Fascination with flight does not begin with me. My father, Robert Tesori was a pilot, an engineer, and a man of imagination. The love my father had for “metal birds” is replicated in my love for feathered ones. The series of paintings in this exhibition explores an inherited lineage from my father to me – from his mechanical craft to my organic creatures.
I work from memories of flying on weekends with my father in his Reggiane 2002 homebuilt replica WWII Italian fighter aircraft. In my art, are dreams of us on airfields or standing on wings, arms outstretched, as his craft flies through the air. In my dreams, we glided beside his plane as if part of a surreal squadron. Sometimes, I am a bird watching these dreams from above. Sometimes I am just a small girl alone in the plane, my father’s distant voice crackling through the headset radio as he instructs me through the cockpit controls. I have had these dreams of flying for a very long time.
When you fly, have no fear.
Lay your hand on the aircraft skin, imagine its heartbeat.
