Beware! The Haunting is back and even spookier!
Halloween is not just for kids…anymore! On October 26 in the dead of night, venture if you dare, into Downtown Orillia and experience all things that go bump in the night. Be led through haunted Halloween tours at the Orillia Museum of Art and History and at The Orillia Opera House and will continue throughout frightful spaces in Downtown Orillia. This year promises to be even spookier than last year so get your tickets early before they sell out!
While on the Orillia Museum of Art & History‘s tour, Nightmare on Peter Street, guests will be transformed by a ghoulsome make-up artist in time for the end of night costume party and be led into the darkness where they will endure the creepy Chainsaw Hospital haunted house ending the tour in the clock tower while hearing undisclosed stories of the postmaster who once abided there. At the Phantom ofthe Opera House tour, guests will be will be met with apparitions who will tell their chilling stories of life on the inside and then be lead through inhabited spaces and listen to creepy tales about the phantoms within and catch classic horror films playing throughout the night too.
Tours will also consist of participating downtown businesses, restaurants and pubs offering interactive and spooky Haunting features and Halloween themed food + spirits. Look for the Jack-o’-Lanterns in merchant windows and pop in for a trick-or-treat.
Event & Marketing Coordinator for Downtown Orillia, Courtney Thompson is excited about all the new features added to this year’s event. “Passports will be incorporated into the mix and offered to all tour participants for a chance to win a grand prize at the end of the evening, an end of night costume party has been added and a Jack-o’-Lanterns will be displayed in downtown storefronts just to add to the creepy Halloween ambiance”.
“The Orillia Public Libraryis also in on the spooky action,” adds Thompson. “Beginning at 4 pm you and the family can have your frightful picture captured on their new state-of-the-art green screen for $5/picture. All ages are welcomed”.
Guests will end the night at the The Haunting’s End of Night Costume Party at the Royal Canadian Legion. Masquerade and dance to Halloween tunes with a live DJ, dress up in your best Halloween costume for a chance to win bragging rights and to take home the best costume prize!! Costume party will begin at 9 pm and will run until 1 am. Everyone is welcome but must be legal drinking age-19+.
Ticket are $15 and are available at the Downtown Orillia office at 33 Mississaga St. W. or online athttp://downtownorillia.ticketleap.com/the-haunting2/. This event is limited to 16 years and older. Purchasing tickets before the event is strongly recommended but don’t fret if you didn’t get your ticket in time. All features offered in downtown businesses, at the Orillia Public Library and the end of night costume party are open to everyone so come and enjoy downtown this Halloween.
